Around twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Locals observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
